TWO men are set to go on trial next month accused of burglary.

Defendants, Simon Andrew Kernan and Raymond Bragg both appeared at Durham Crown Court yesterday morning to answer a series of charges.

Mr Kernan, is 39 and of Brougham Street, in Penrith.

Mr Bragg is 50 and resides at Harry Street, in Darlington.

Both men pleaded not guilty to a single charge burglary relating to a dwelling house in Barnard Castle. The offence is said to have taken place in March.

Mr Bragg also pleaded not guilty to three more charges of burglary, an attempted burglary, three counts of fraud and one count of possessing a firearm.

Both men appeared before Judge Jonathan Carroll.

Judge Carroll accepted their not guilty pleas.

He set a date for the trial which will be held at Durham Crown Court on September 13.

The trial is expected to start at 10am.

Judge Carroll granted Mr Kernan unconditional. However, Mr Bragg was remanded in custody.
