MEMBERS of Crook Rotary Club have thanked residents for supporting their latest project.

The club partnered up with the charity recyke-Y- byke to help with their environmental project to collect and recycle old bikes.

An after appealing for help from residents, more than 45 bikes were donated to the cause.

The North-East based charity takes in used bicycles from members of the public.

The bikes are then repaired by a team of mechanics at the charity and sold on to fund its charitable activities.

From its sales it sends 500 bikes per year to development projects in Kenya and Gambia as well as donating bikes to refugees and asylum seekers.

A spokeswoman for the club said: “We would wish to thank you the public for your support of this club environmental project.”
