IT was a real family day out at this year's Egton Show with entertainment, farming and rural life.

The 129th Egton Show was held on Wednesday, August 22, in the village near Whitby, North Yorkshire.

The show featured a wrought iron and farrier display, a farmers market, plus all the usual horse, cattle, sheep, goat, ferret, fur and feather classes.

There was also bee keeping, produce and handicraft and the children's sections.

Vicky and Paul Christon, from Thornton, near Ingleby Barwick, visit the show regularly and this year took daughters Phoebe, Freya and Fleur.

Four-year-old twins Phoebe and Freya said they enjoyed watching the show jumping.

Mrs Christon said: "There was a very good variety of stalls, from clothing to food – something for everyone.

"There were two big bouncy castles, a music stage with various acts and a clown show. It was a great atmosphere and a lovely day."

Egton is one of the largest village shows in the country run by a band of volunteers.
