TWO people have been taken to hospital following a crash on the westbound carriageway of the A174.

The crash, which involved a black Honda Civic and red Audi TT, happened at around 11.45pm on Monday evening at Fishponds roundabout near Kirkleatham Museum.

The road was closed westbound for several hours but reopened at around 4am.

Cleveland Police said: "The 71-year-old female driver of the Audi suffered a broken collar bone, broken ribs and facial injuries.

"The 22-year-old male driver of the Honda Civic suffered back and hip pain. Both were taken to James Cook University Hospital for treatment.

"Officers would appeal for any witnesses or anyone with dash cam footage which may assist their investigation to contact PC Craig Wren from the Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit on the non-emergency number 101, quoting event number 153947."
