A COMMUNITY pub has been named Yorkshire Pub of the Year - for the third year in succession.

The George and Dragon in Hudswell, near Richmond, is owned by Hudswell Community Pub Limited, which was formed in 2010 to buy, refurbish, and reopen the only pub in the village.

It went on to develop the pub as a hub for a wide range of activities and services for the village.

The pub is described in the CAMRA Good Beer Guideas: “Homely, two-roomed village inn, it features its own library, shop, allotments and other local facilities as well as great food. A large beer terrace to the rear offers stunning panoramic views over the Swale Valley.”

Wensleydale Falconer Session Bitter and either Northallerton Dark or Rudgate Ruby Mild are always available. Three regularly changing guest beers, sourced locally, are also always available.

The licensee - Stuart Miller - will be presented with a framed certificate by Peter Goddard, CAMRA’s deputy regional director.
