SUNDERLAND RNLI Lifeboat Station and Lifeboat Guild are hosting their annual “Harbour Day” on Sunday.

The event will be formally opened by Georgia Mordey, who won Top Model of Sunderland 2018, and highlights at the event include regular demonstrations showing visitors how the charities’ beach lifeguards and lifeboat volunteer’s work together to save lives at sea.

Sam Surtees, deputy launching authority at Sunderland RNLI, said “We would like to invite the people of Sunderland to come along and take part in this year’s Harbour Day at our lifeboat station.

“It will also give everyone the chance to meet our volunteer crew and have a look around our two Inshore Lifeboats the as well contributing towards the charities’ on-going running costs.”

The event takes place from 10am until 3pm, in Sunderland Marina, adjacent to the RNLI lifeboat station.

Sunderland RNLI Lifeboat Station is the oldest continually operational lifeboat in the UK. It was originally opened in 1800 before being adopted by the RNLI in 1865.
