YOUNG people who have been speaking out on behalf of their peers with decision makers in North Yorkshire have marked their tenth anniversary .

The Flying High group, for young adults with disabilities or additional needs, and the Young People’s Council, for those with experience of care both work with the county council to put forward ideas and represent members.

To mark a decade since their work began a special birthday celebration was held at the Pavilions of Harrogate with many past and present members attending to celebrate the work done.

Ed Graham, chair of Flying High, said: "I want to make a difference in people’s lives and give them the hope that they can achieve goals and dreams." Amy Harlow, chair of YPC added: "I can now stand up in front of large groups and give a presentation. I have definitely made friends for life within this group."
