A PEDESTRIAN was left badly injured after an attack in a County Durham town.

Police are appealing for help to trace the two men believed to be involved in the alleged attack which took place in Spennymoor.

Durham Police said the 39-year-old victim was walking home along Durham Road shortly after 4pm on Saturday, July 14.

They said he was jumped on by two men, thought to be in their 20s, and was punched and kicked to the head and body several times.

The suspects made off via a bus towards Durham while the ambulance service arrived to attend to the victim.

Police last night released CCTV images showing men they believe were in the area at the time and who might be able to help officers with their inquires.

Anyone who may recognise these men or who has any information about the incident is asked to contact Sgt Mike Sammut, of Spennymoor police, on non-emergency 101 .
