Quad thefts

TWO Honda quad bikes, one green and one red, and a Yamaha trail bike have been stolen from a secure garage at Castleton near Stokesley. Anyone with CCTV, or any information relating to the incident, should call North Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting 711 of the 25th July as reference.

Bird scarer

A FIRE in the open on Wednesday at Coneysthorpe, near Castle Howard, was accidentally caused by a bird scarer - but the fire was out when fire crews arrived. It was the second fire caused by a bird scarer in Ryedale in a week.

Youth space

THE use of the sports hall at Stokesley Leisure Centre has been secured on Saturday afternoons from 3pm to 5pm by Stokesley Youth Space. The sessions are run for young people aged between 11 and 17 and there will be different activities every week for a £1 fee.

Pop-up shop

A POP-up “posh” charity shop opens in Malton’s Market Place on Friday and will be there for three weeks. It is being run by Malton and Norton Rotary Club. “The clothing and goods on sale will be of the highest quality,” said club secretary Paul Pritchard.

Summer fair

A SUMMER gift, craft and food fair is taking place in the Garden Rooms of Tennants Auctioneers in Leyburn on August 4 and 5 from 10am to 4pm. There will be more than 50 stalls featuring artisan exhibitors from around the UK with their homemade crafts and gifts. Parking and entry is free and there is a child-friendly café.
