CHILDREN were invited to explore for themselves a fairy garden created for residents at a care home.

Youngsters from the early years class at Bedale primary school, aged four and five, were sent an invitation to go and inspect the special garden created for residents at the Millings care home in Bedale.

The residents helped create the garden and the fairies, with wood, wool and paint during craft sessions at the Millings.

They also held a range of activities when the children arrived to make the visit extra fairy-special with wand-making instructions to help the children be properly prepared in case they needed to wave them.

A fairy hunt was also organised with creatures created for the children to find themselves.

A spokeswoman at the Millings said they wanted to share what they had created with the children.

A school spokesman said: “The fairy glen experience was fantastic. The children loved meeting the residents and enjoyed the craft activities.

"They have been talking about it endlessly since returning to school. They told me that they really liked the fairy hunt in the beautiful garden.”
