Telephone scam
RESIDENTS in Barnard Castle are being warned to be on their guard after reports of a telephone scam.
The resident was called by a person claiming to be a High Court Enforcement Officer and told the home owner he owed money and would attend the property to collect.
Following an investigation it was confirmed that this male was not a legitimate enforcement officer but using the name of a legitimate company.
A police spokesman said: "If you receive a call of this nature please be aware this may be a scam."
If you have any concerns call 101 or contact Action Fraud on 0300-1232040.
