DARLINGTON R’n’B Club have announced a real coup, with a show by arguably the greatest living Blues harmonica players Billy Branch.
Branch is on a short four-date UK tour with Giles Robson and his band and Darlington R’n’B Club will host the Chicagu bluesman on Friday, July 13
Branch was discovered by Willie Dixon, the “Father of modern Chicago Blues” while he was still in college. Branch began touring with Willie’s band which gave him the experience he needed to make a name for himself not only on the US Blues circuit but indeed world-wide.
Since those early days, Branch has played on over 150 different recordings, including 12 under his own name. He's recorded with Willie Dixon, Johnny Winter, Koko Taylor, and Taj Mahal, just to name a few.
In addition, he has received three Grammy nominations (losing one nomination to BB King and Eric Clapton).
He is now regarded as the one of greatest harmonica players around today.
Giles Robson has also been building a great reputation for himself on the world-wide stage and is one of the UK’s leading harmonica players.
