POLICE Interceptors will take part in a marathon dance fitness class in memory of a 15-year-old boy who took his own life.

PC Ian Squire and PC Mike ‘Spike’ Fisher of Durham Constabulary will help to raise funds for the If U Care Share Foundation in honour of Bobby Carmichael.

Bobby, 15, of Esh Winning, County Durham, died on June 1.

Bobby’s grandmother, Diane Carmichael, said: “He was so kind and he liked to have a joke with everyone.

"Since his death people have told us stories of times that he helped them – walking someone home and looking after a woman who had fallen from her mobility scooter. It makes us all proud.

“He was really into his quad biking which he’d done since he was aged six. He went all over the country with it. We miss him terribly.”

A dance-based fitness class will be held at Newhouse Club, Esh Winning, from 6pm on Thursday

and will include a raffle and auction with a selection of prizes including a ‘Mini Interceptors Experience with Spike and Squirsey.’

Zumba instructor, Diane Arrowsmith said: “It is so tragic and we are all behind the family. We wanted to do something to show our support during this difficult time.

“We’ve had some great support from local businesses and the community has really come together for such a good cause. We were overwhelmed when the Police Interceptors said that they would get involved too. We hope to raise as much money as possible.”

PC Squire, star of the Channel 5 documentary series, said: “With the popularity that the Interceptors has brought, it’s another chance to use that for a great cause. If it helps raise the profile of a worthy charity then we’re very happy to support."

The If U Care Share Foundation supports families affected by suicide.
