EACH week we profile a member of The Northern Echo Camera Club. This week it's the turn of David Johnson, from Spennymoor
Who or what inspired you to take up photography?
MY dad – he would always have a camera with him on our family holidays and I used to like to borrow it to take pictures. As I got older I would take more photographs than him.
Your first camera?
THE Fuji Finpix S5500.
What do you most enjoy photographing?
I LIKE to take pictures of a variety of subjects from landscapes to portraits and I have recently started to do some street photography which I am really enjoying.
Favourite photograph?
TOMMY as it was my first photograph to be picked to be part of an exhibition that was held at Ushaw Moor College.
Your go-to kit at the moment?
MY Nikon D5500 with its kit lens.
Do you spend much time in post-production?
I DON’T spend a lot of time in post-production but when I do it will be to change a photograph from colour to black and white and to make some minor adjustments. The software that I use the most is an app called Snapseed.
Any advice for budding photographers?
TAKE your camera with you wherever you go as you never know when you are going to see something that will make a great photograph.
