POLICE are appealing for help in tracing a group of young woman involved in an attack on a college student who was left with head and neck injuries.
The 27-year-old victim was walking with a group of her friends down Front Street, in Chester-le-Street, shortly before 11.15pm on Friday, April 20.
She was jumped on by some members of a group of women, thought to be aged in their late teens, and was punched to the ground where she was stamped on.
Police have now released CCTV images showing women they believe were in the area at the time who might be able to help with inquiries.
PC Dan Powell, of Chester-le-Street Police, said: “The victim was left with a head injury which needed treatment in hospital and had clumps of her hair pulled from her head.
“She was left extremely distressed and was not able to attend college for the following week because of what happened.
“If anyone recognises the women in the pictures, or if they recognise themselves, we would appreciate a call”.
Anyone with information is asked to call PC Dan Powell, of Chester-le-Street police on 101, or alternatively call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
