A HOME care provider has been celebrating people who devote their lives to looking after their loved ones.

To mark Carers Week, Dale Care in Crook asked its 900 carers to nominate family members of clients across the region to receive a bunch of flowers.

Communications manager Carol Jackson, who delivered the flowers, said:”It was emotional because they didn’t feel they should get anything. They just see themselves as doing what they do, caring for someone they love.

“Our carers come across kind, selfless people like this all of the time and wanted to do something nice for them.”

Photographs were also shared on Facebook, with a photograph of Christine Cunningham, from Willington, attracting many kind comments.

Mrs Cunningham, who has been caring for her husband, Adrian, since he suffered a stroke, said: “It is lovely for someone to recognise what you are doing.”

The carer who nominated Mrs Cunningham said: “Christine is a beautiful, kind, caring lady and cares dearly for her husband.”
