THE Dean of York is moving on - after being appointed as the new Bishop of Bristol.
The Very Reverend Dr Vivienne Faull will be consecrated at a service at St Paul’s Cathedral on July 3.
Dr Faull was the first woman to lead a Church of England cathedral as Provost and then Dean of Leicester in 2000, before being appointed Dean of York in 2012.
Her mother was brought up in Bristol and Dr Faull said that moving there as the city's 57th bishop felt like returning home
She added: “It was 24 years ago that Bristol was the first diocese to ordain women as priests, and I want the diocese to continue to show that pioneering courage."
