A WOMAN used her flatmate's bank card to order 19 takeaways in the space of just three weeks, a court heard.
Chanelle Telford, 20, of Genesis Way, Consett, pleaded guilty to fraud by false representation, when she appeared before magistrates in Newton Aycliffe yesterday.
Joanne Hesse, prosecuting, said Telford used her flatmate's debit card details to order takeaways through the Just Eat website.
The victim also said she felt 'scared' by Telford, who constantly asked her for money for cannabis.
Telford claimed in her defence that many of the takeaways had been ordered on behalf of the victim, although admitted she had ordered four without her knowledge, adding up to about £100.
The victim remained unaware until one of the other residents of their accommodation suggested she checked her bank account.
A probation report said Telford, who has no previous convictions, was 'very remorseful'.
She was given a 12-month community order and ordered to pay £40 compensation and £40 costs.
