A WOMAN tried to flee from police after crashing her car at speed.
A Durham Constabulary spokeswoman confirmed the woman tried to make off following the incident just outside Lidl, in the Crook, at about 10.45pm Sunday, April 1.
The woman's black A4 Audi was badly damaged during the incident and she failed a roadside breath test.
The spokeswoman said: "We were called to reports of a one vehicle collision on the A689 at Crook just outside of Lidl at around 22.45pm on Sunday in which the driver of a black Audi A4 lost control of her vehicle and collided with an electric post.
"A 22-year old woman was subsequently arrested after failing to stop, driving under the influence, aggravated vehicle taking and driving without insurance.
"The driver has since been released under investigation."
