MOTORING enthusiasts will descend for an Easter festival which will see over 100 classic vehicles line a market town.

Northallerton High Street is transforming into a Vintage Vehicle Festival on Easter Sunday, welcoming the best British and American classic cars.

Organised by Northallerton Business Improvement District (BID), the motoring extravaganza kicks off a season of festivals set to be held in the town.

Julia Chance, BID manager, said: “Our members are committed to investing in new festivals which will transform our high street into a cultural space.

“This is the first in a season of festivals which we hope will be well received in Northallerton.

“We invite locals and those further afield to join us in our first ever Classic Car Sunday, so far the event promises to be a true reflection of our county town, family friendly, classic and distinctive.”

Visitors can see the cars, enjoy street food and look around the Auto Jumble in the Town Hall from 11am until 4pm.

It is hoped the event will bring businesses together to make the most of the added visitors.

Numerous classic car clubs are backing the festival, which will also showcase several vintage motorcycles.

Northallerton BID will run a year of festivals including Northallerton Homefront in June, which will celebrate 1940s music, memorabilia and militaria.

The Applegarth will host a Homegrown Food Festival in June, and the highly-anticipated Soapbox Challenge will race through the town in July.

It follows the success of the Micklegate Run Soapbox Challenge in York, which is entering its third year.

The BID was formed in November 2016 after 71.23 per cent of businesses who voted in the area were in favour of working together.

Lindsay Judd, chairman of Northallerton BID, added: “There’s so much going on in the county town this year, thanks to Northallerton BID and its partners.

“We hope the whole community will come out to enjoy these gorgeous vintage vehicles.”
