A PIANIST described as a “broad and thoughtful musician” will take to the keys at a Teesdale venue.

Young UK-based pianist Chiyan Wong will perform at The Witham, in Barnard Castle, tonight at 7.30pm

Wong was recently awarded a prestigious prize as one of most promising young artists to appear at the International Mozarteum Summer Academy and subsequently performed at the Salzburg Festival in Summer 2017.

He released his critically-acclaimed debut on LINN Records in Spring 2017 which featured Franz Liszt’s operatic transcriptions completed and edited by Wong himself.

Katy Taylor, The Witham director said: “I am so exciting to welcome a talent like Chiyan Wong to The Witham – he is a young person on the brink of an international career and to have the opportunity to enjoy a recital here in Barnard Castle with a musician of this calibre and introduce our classical music audience to one of the world’s most promising young musicians.”
