A PORTRAIT artist who spent more than a decade exploring the issues around cosmetic surgery has brought his exclusive exhibition to a County Durham museum.

Jonathan Yeo has installed his SKIN DEEP exhibition at The Bowes Museum, in Barnard Castle, in the hope of opening up the debate on the controversial topic.

Mr Yeo, 47, is acclaimed worldwide for his depictions of public figures including Nicole Kidman, Tony Blair, and members of the royal family but said he had learnt a lot with his most recent work which involved observing cosmetic surgeons first-hand.

The works also show patients in pre and post-operative states as they underwent everything from facelifts to boob jobs but he also features transgender patients.

The exhibition opens on March 10 and will run until June 17. It will be accompanied by an events programme exploring the wider issue of body image. For details visit thebowesmuseum.org.uk
