NORTHALLERTON’S Masonic Hall is throwing open its doors to dispel myths and answer questions about Freemasonry.

An open evening is being held by the Anchor Lodge at the hall on Friarage Street, Northallerton on Wednesday, March 7 in a bid to inform the public about the work of the organisation locally and nationally.

The informal event is open to everybody and aims to answer people’s questions about the organisation and find out about the work it does in the local community.

A spokesman for the group said: “This is your opportunity to ask questions about Freemasonry, to look inside the building, probe beyond the myths and find out for yourself what Freemasonry is really about, and does for the community at large.”

The Freemasons support a number of local good causes every year. They include a recent donation of £4,000 made by the Masonic Charitable Foundation to Northallerton-based charity Breathing Space, which went towards a minibus to transport adults with learning difficulties to social events and leisure activities.

The open evening will run from 7pm until 9pm.
