A WOMAN was cut free from her vehicle after crashing into a tree.
Fire crews were called to the female driver's aid after the car, a classic Mini, came off Cocken Road, between Low Cocken Farm and Cocken Lodge, in the Houghton-le-Spring area at about 12.30am on Wednesday.
The woman was released by crews from Durham and Bishop Auckland before being taken to hospital.
A spokesperson for County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service wrote on Facebook: "More accidents in the terrible weather this evening, including one very lucky lady who has been released by crews from Durham and Bishop Auckland Green Watch.
"Due to the proximity to a very steep cliff, this accident could have been much worse. Don't drive unless essential."
