A MAN is taking on the Great North Run in aid of the Bradley Lowery Foundation.

Ian Lowther, 34, Annfield Plain, was so inspired by Bradley’s plight that he said raising money for the foundation was a no-brainer.

Mr Lowther said: “I have an eight-year-old daughter and I just cannot imagine what Bradley’s parents went through. I have been a season ticket for Sunderland Football Club on and off for a number of years, and Bradley’s story has had such an impact on the footballing world, it is hard not to be touched by his story.”

Mr Lowther, who works as a warehouse coordinator and is involved in league football at the weekends, has so far raised nearly £300 and has set up a Just Giving page for donations. He said: “I have been so inspired by the coming together of the football world that I wanted to get involved. There is plenty of time to be raising money.”

This year’s Great North Run is on Sunday, September 9.
