POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was left with a broken leg in an alleyway attack.

The assault happened next to the High Crown Pub, in Chester-le-Street, at 11.30pm on Saturday.

A police spokesperson said: "As the victim exited the pub, one of the males jumped on top of the victim causing his right leg to break.

"The two suspects also left the victim with limited vision in his eye which requires specialist attention."

Sergeant Ian Morrison, of Consett Police Station said: “There were a number of people present at the time of the assault, I would like to appeal to these witnesses to come forward to enable us to identify the two males responsible.”
