A SHOW celebrating young talent from across the Yorkshire Dales is to take place this month.

The Dales Variety Show will feature music, dance and drama performed by young people from Wensleydale and Swaledale and will be performed at the Georgian Theatre Royal in Richmond on Saturday, February 24.

It has been organised by seven young people who have attended the Big Music Project. The initiative, which has been delivered by North Yorkshire Youth, is part of a national network of groups led by UK Youth and funded by the Big Lottery Fund.

The project aims to give young people the chance to plan their own music event and gain knowledge and skills which can be used in the creative industries. Group members have also created portfolios on their chosen arts subject to achieve an Arts Award.

Harvey Boddy, aged 12, a member of the group said: “The Big Music Project has been a fantastic opportunity for us to organise and take part in a music event in our local community.”

The show also features dancers from Janet Seymour’s School of Theatre Dance and members of the Musical Theatre Project from Wensleydale and Swaledale.

The project will conclude with a trip to London to attend UK Youth’s, Big Music Live, held at the Ministry of Sound to celebrate the group’s achievements.

The show offers a mix of genres and styles to suit all ages and tastes with a finale featuring songs from The Blue Brothers and Grease.

Tickets are £7 adults and £4 for under-16s. Ring the box office on; 01748-825252.
