WHY in this day and age can we not prevent theft of lead from our beautiful churches?

To think some thieves could make maybe a few hundred quid for scrap lead they have ripped from a beautiful church roof is maddening.

Taking Sedgefield as a prime example, it’s going to cost a reportedly £30,000 to replace it.

Then there is the theft of copper from train lines and so on.
