A MAN who sexually assaulted a woman while in the queue in Burger King before smirking and walking away has been given a community order.

Kyler John McLoughlin, from Durham, was found guilty of sexual assault when he appeared at York Magistrates' Court.

The 22-year-old, of Stringer Terrace, assaulted a 24-year-old woman from behind while in the queue at the Burger King in York Station.

When she turned around to confront Mcloughlin, he claimed he had been “looking for his ticket” and smirked and walked away.

It happened on June 24 last yeear.

McLoughlin was given a 12 month community order and has been placed on the sex offenders register for five years.

He was also ordered to pay an £85 victim surcharge and £500 in court costs and is not allowed to enter York city.

Investigating Officer PC Andy Jones said: “Mcloughlin’s behaviour at York station was completely unacceptable and left the victim extremely upset.

“No one should ever be subjected to unwanted sexual behaviour on the trains or at stations and we continue to encourage victims to report offences to us. If you are ever a victim of a sexual assault, please report it to us by sending a text to 61016.”
