COMIC Patrick Monahan will be performing his new stand-up show comparing life as an Irish-Iranian teenager to today’s Teen Brexit Britain.

The award-winning comedian, who grew up in Redcar and Stokesley, will be performing at the Crash Bang Wallop Theatre in Stokesley on Saturday, March 3.

He will be performing his brand-new show, Rewind Selector 90s as part of his UK tour.

The stand-up show will look at life growing up in Britain during the 1990s as an Irish/Iranian immigrant whose family had come over from Iran a decade earlier.

As identity cards and ‘Cool Britannia’ were being introduced, Monahan found himself on the periphery as a teenager and trying to blend in.

In the era of drink and drugs and rock n'roll, for teetotal Monahan it was "cake and tea and Rn'B" and going to all night raves with fun size Milky Ways to keep up his energy for dancing.

Monahan explores what life was like for teenagers in the nineties growing up with basic technology and current problems teenagers face, such as faulty phone charger leads, dabbing and whether they should Instagram their dinner or just eat it.

The youth theatre studio is based on the Terry Dicken Industrial Estate, Station Road, Stokesley.
