MEMBERS of the public are invited to a enjoy free feast using fresh food that would have otherwise been wasted.

To shine a light on global food waste and to celebrate their Fuel for School surplus food campaign, children and young people have organised the Ferryhill Festival of Food.

The festival will take place on Saturday, January 20 from 11am until 2pm at Ferryhill Village Methodist Chapel.

Glenys Newby, from Approach Too, said: “We are really excited about co-hosting with Re-f-use CIC and the Methodist Chapel this fun-filled event in Ferryhill.

“Pupils from Chilton, Cleves Cross, Dean Bank and Ferryhill Station Primary schools are on a mission to ensure no good food is ever wasted.

“As well as their weekly pay as you feel market stalls, events like this show we can all waste less food, which will ultimately benefit our purses and the environment too. But more importantly, we are bringing everyone together to share delicious food. ”

  • Local people and groups are also invited to perform at the event. For information contact glenys@approachtoo.uk
