A PHONE company will have to go back to the drawing board after its application to put a new mast next to the A167 in Durham was refused.
EE had wanted to put the 17.5m mast near the entrance to Sheraton Park, in Neville’s Cross.
But following objections by 70 residents, Durham County Council said there were serious questions about the suitability of the site, describing the location and design of the mast as “ill-conceived.”
It said: “The development by reason of its siting, design and height would be unduly prominent and would have an overbearing and harmful impact on the amenities of the immediate area.”
EE is looking for a new mast location after being given a notice to quit its site at the top of Neville’s Cross Bank.
It put a temporary mast at the bottom of the bank during the summer.
