STAFF and customers at Gala Bingo, Darlington, will be raising money for Movember with a 16 mile walk from the town centre all the way to Middlesbrough.

The walk, which will take place on Sunday, November 26, we see the team going from bingo hall to bingo hall, with 15 men and women taking part to raise money for the men’s health charity.

Among the staff is Michael Moore who has worked at the bingo for 13 years and often comes up with ideas to get people involved in charity fundraisers.

In his fourth year taking part in Movember, the 36-year-old has been decorating his beard and moustache with a different colour of glitter every day.

He said: “There’s a lot of money raised for things like breast cancer but not a lot of awareness for men’s health, so I thought I would give it a go one year and things just went from there.

"I think it’s really good that all the girls have got involved this time, they’re all going to be wearing fake moustaches. I think it will become a tradition.”

Last September, Mr Moore and his colleague Trisha Bass, 51, took part in the Memory Walk to raise money for people with dementia.

The staff have also taken part in a bike ride from Darlington to York to raise money for Variety, a charity for children who are sick, disabled, or disadvantaged.

Mr Moore added: “We will have to think of something bigger to do next year.”

The group will be fundraising along the way to the Gala Bingo in Middlesbrough and will be rewarded at the end with a free game, drinks and a meal.
