A MAN has been arrested after climbing on to a lorry near the junction with the A169 this morning.

The road to Flamingo Land and Kirby Misperton was partially blocked after the man clambered on to the top of the heavy goods vehicle at 9.50am, near to where protests are taking place at Third Energy's well site.

Police put a contraflow system in place, to enable traffic to pass the lorry, and put up diversion signs, as they warned motorists to avoid the area.

The Northern Echo:

The man climbed back down from the lorry at 2.10pm and was arrested on suspicion of holding on to a motor vehicle in motion, an offence under the Road Traffic Act. He remains in custody.

North Yorkshire Police say the stationary lorry caused major traffic disruption on the A169 between Malton and Pickering.
