HUNDREDS of cannabis campaigners are expected to descend on Durham today for a “celebration of the plant”.
Durham City Cannabis Club (DCCC) will be staging its Protestival at the old bowling green at the racecourse in Durham from 11am.
Pro-cannabis activists come together to meet each other, smoke and listen to speakers on the subject of legalisation of the Class B drug.
A DCCC spokesman said: “The Protestival is a celebration of the plant and all its applications, as well as a form of disobedience to highlight the fact that consumers can get together en masse and it not be an act of anti-social behaviour.
“These events been positively received by the community and this will be no exception. We have Callie Blackwell, author The of boy in 7 Billion will be coming to speak.
Among the musicians performing will be local busker Danny Buzzin, Dave the dealer, Keith Hudson and a seven piece reggae band from Manchester, called Ruff Trade.
