RESIDENTS of Spennymoor are invited to an event next month which aims to bridge the gap between the town council and the public.

Spennymoor Town Council will reach out to residents with a consultation and information day at Spennymoor Town Hall on Saturday, October 21, 10am to 2pm.

Members hope the event twill make themselves and staff more visible within the community and provide 'open, relevant, timely, informative engagement' with residents.

All councillors will attend if available, as will town clerk Katherine Hierons and representatives of Spennymoor Area Action Partnership and homes and communities company livin.

It will be ran in a similar way to the AAP It's up 2 U event with manned tables in the main hall with information, key facts and activities.

A spokesperson said: "We are very interested in hearing feedback on all of the activities within the town from residents, not just our events, our park and town hall but also on our finances, our budget and projects undertaken."

People can find out and share opinions about the council's constitution, organisation, renewal and repairs and priorities, its community buildings, skatepark, play equipment, the Cow Plantation, website and social media and the Mayor's charity.
