A FUNERAL of one of the North-East victims of the Manchester terror attack will be held tomorrow (Friday June 9).

Courtney Boyle, 19, of Gateshead, was one of 22 people killed by a suicide bomber at the Ariana Grande concert on May 22. She was killed along with her mother’s partner Philip Tron.

A family announcement says family and friends are welcome to attend her funeral at the Saltwell Crematorium at noon.

Miss Boyle's family paid tribute to her in a statement released by Greater Manchester Police after the attack.

Her mother, Deborah Hutchinson, said: “My stunning amazing beautiful daughter.

“You were my rock, you made me so proud with all you had achieved and my gorgeous crazy Philip, you made my world a happy place and now you are both my angels flying high in the sky.”

Courtney’s dad added: “I am going to miss my baby girl Courtney Boyle for the rest of my life. I will never forget you and I will love you forever.”

Miss Boyle was a former pupil of Lord Lawson of Beamish Academy in Birtley, near Chester-le-Street.

Her former headteacher, Mark Lovatt, said: “Courtney was a much-loved student and friend of Lord Lawson of Beamish Academy.

“She was an ex-student of Talbot House and really was the epitome of a perfect student.

“Courtney kept in touch with teachers and staff, showing the kind, caring and loving person that she was.

“She really grasped life with both hands and she will be dearly missed and remembered by all who knew her.”

Friends held a vigil and balloon release for Miss Boyle and Mr Tron at the Angel of the North.

Several balloon releases were also held for Chloe Rutherford, 17 and Liam Curry, 19, who were from South Shields, and also died in the blast.

After Courtney’s funeral, her life will be celebrated at the Thomas Wilson Club in Chowdene Bank, Gateshead.

Donations can be made to the Swan Bereavement Nurses in Salford, Manchester, in lieu of flowers.
