A FISH and chip shop is celebrating after being recognised with a national award despite only being open for six months.

Katie’s Traditional Fish And Chips, in Horsemarket, Barnard Castle, has been awarded the prestigious National Federation of Fish Friers (NFFF) Fish & Chip Quality Award.

The award identifies fish and chip outlets that serve the highest quality fish and chips following a thorough assessment of the premises, hygiene standards and quality and taste of fish and chips.

The award comes shortly after owner Katie Barker was named Young Entrepreneur of the Year at The Teesdale Business Awards 2017.

She said: “To be recognized as one of the top fish and chip shops by the NFFF is indeed an honour and a credit to our hardworking staff who I would like to offer my sincere thanks for their continued hard work and efforts to maintain our excellent reputation.”
