A COLLEGE has invested £100,000 into a digital technology to help students make the leap into the world of work.

Hartlepool College of Further Education has developed a new Mac suite, which will give students the chance to develop their computer skills.

At the same time as focusing on teaching it is hoped Teesside businesses will begin recruiting apprentices from students using the new equipment.

Keith Bradley, Head of Art & Design School at Hartlepool College of Further Education, said: “There is a big push from the Government for digital placements. It is an increasingly important tool for businesses to be able to market digitally, and we are trying to spread the word to the local business community that we have the facilities in place to provide apprentices across the board.

“The courses we run are set up with the business community in mind. We look at things like website design, mobile phone apps and spreadsheets, just a really broad base for an apprentice to move forward into the world of marketing.”
