THE leaves have been well thumbed on a reprint of an intriguing tale of village life from a bygone era.
Such has been the popularity of the reprint of Esh Leaves, a chronicle of life in Esh Parish, in the early 1900s, that another edition is to be produced.
First published in 1914, it gave a flavour of life in Langley Park, Esh Village and Quebec, plus nearby communities of Satley, Lanchester, Bearpark and Witton Gilbert.
Promoted by Esh Parish Council, the reprint has sold out and demand for copies is increasing.
One hundred copies of the special edition reprints are available from post offices in Esh Village, Langley Park and Esh Winning, or call assistant parish council clerk Mike Ackroyd on 0191-373-6687.
Copies are £7.50, plus postage and packing for postal sales.
