A MOTHER has branded an independent waste collection company as "rubbish" after it failed to empty her bins.

Jenny Wake, from Northallerton, enlisted the services of Bin and Gone, based at Brompton-on-Swale, near Richmond.

But, after paying a six-month subscription of £49, she found that her bins were not emptied.

Mrs Wake said: "I understand they have teething problems but this isn't a teething problem.

"It is a complete failure to deliver what they promised. I have now got an overflowing bin.

"By the time they get round to it, it will have been emptied by the council. I want my money back. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone."

Mrs Wake is one of more than 850 householders across Hambleton and Richmondshire who signed up for the service, which came into operation on June 4.

In response, Chris Whyatt, from Bin and Gone, said Mrs Wake was his only dissatisfied customer.

"In setting up a new business there are always going to be teething problems," he said.

"She is the only unhappy customer we currently have."

Mr Whyatt said part of the problem was that Mrs Wake's home in Meadow Lane was a new build and did not appear on satellite navigation equipment.
