A WINDOW contract at two schools has thrown up a number of design issues.

Anglian Building Products secured a contract to manufacture and supply hundreds of PVCu windows and aluminium doors to Shotley Bridge Junior and Coundon Primary School.

But the age and style of the buildings presented challenges for the design team.

Shotley Bridge was built in the early Fifties with large picture windows requiring 185 PVCu units and six doors.

Headteacher Denise Todd said: "The windows are amazing and have been a real bonus for the children in terms of a lighter, brighter, learning environment."

Coundon primary was built in the Thirties and had box sash windows, so although standard products were fitted, additional finishing was required.
