A COUNCIL is planning a five-week £150,000 road improvement scheme.

The work on the B1269, from its junction with Sandy Lane to the southern end of Dunsdale Village, will start on Monday, June 25.

It will involve a signed diversion route, via the A174 Marske Bypass, the A174 Apple Orchard Bank and the A173 to Guisborough.

Access for Dunsdale residents and the emergency services will be maintained at all times.

During the road closure, a free taxi service will be available to the residents of Dunsdale, Yearby and Kirkleatham, to take them to the nearest town centre - Guisborough or Redcar.

Councillor Mary Lanigan, Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council's cabinet member for highways, transportation and planning, said: "We apologise for any inconvenience that will be caused, but hope disruption can be kept to a minimum."
