FIREWORKS and a spectacular water display will feature in the finale of the centrepiece performance at a festival of international street arts.

The North Yorkshire Green Space Festival is to be held in Boroughbridge, Ripon, Harrogate and Knaresborough from June 28 to July 1.

A performance of Stormbringer, based on Shakespeare's The Tempest, is the highlight of the event and will be performed outdoors at Knaresborough Castle on June 30. Its finale includes 1,500 litres of spurting water and a pyrotechnic display.

The second Green Space Festival, organised by Harrogate International Festival, is extending this year beyond its Knaresborough base to the three other towns.

Street arts involved include music, puppets, comedy and acrobatics.

Indian brass band Bombay Baja will create a carnival atmosphere in the streets, creatures on stilts and walkabout performers will surprise passers-by and Hopla Circus acrobats will spring-board from a vehicle. There will also be a continental market and a funfair during the free festival.
