A RENOWNED painter who was the sister of an Oscar-winning film composer has died, aged 86.
June Lloyd-Jones was a painter in oils of portraits and landscapes and her late brother John Barry won worldwide fame for his film scores, including Born Free and many of the James Bond series.
She was born Mary June Prendergast in York in 1929, the middle of three children. Her father John owned a local cinema chain.
Mrs Lloyd-Jones attended the Bar Convent School and York School of Art before going to Guildford School of Art to study painting, where she met her husband David, a renowned potter.
They lived in York and had four children; Simon, Caroline, Emma and Abigail.
