AN epilepsy sufferer completed the London Marathon to raise £1,791 for charity Epilepsy Action.

Helen Race, from Shildon, County Durham, completed the 26.2mile race in four hours, eight minutes and 55 seconds.

She said: "The course was tough at times, but the knowing I was doing it for such a fantastic cause really helped me focus on reaching the finish. The crowds cheering me on were fantastic too.”

Holly Rawlings, of Epilepsy Action, said: “Congratulations to Helen on such a fantastic achievement and we wish her well.

"The atmosphere on the day was electric and all of our runners have collectively helped us to raise more than £65,000 to support people with epilepsy."
