POLICE who were investigating the death of a Newcastle woman are no longer treating it as suspicious.

The woman's body was found inside a house in Fordmoss Walk in West Denton at 9.15pm on Friday, October 2.

The woman, initially said to be 45 years, was aged 57.

"A post mortem examination has been carried out on Saturday, October 3, which established that the death was not suspicious," a spokeswoman for Northumbria Police said.

"It is believed there is no third party involvement and a report is being prepared for the coroner.

"The 35-year-old man who had been arrested in connection with the incident has been released from custody with no further police action."

The man and woman were said to be known to each other.

The address was cordoned off by police.
