PEOPLE are being urged to lace up their walking shoes to raise vital funds for the Alzheimer’s Society.

A memory walk will take place at 10.30am in Darlington’s South Park on Sunday (September 27) to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.

The event has been organised by Diane Chandler, director of Home Instead Senior Care.

“We need people to join us and together, arm in arm, step by step and pound by pound, we will walk for a world without dementia,” she said.

“Many of the clients we support are living with dementia and I wanted to do something to fight the condition whilst walking with others who truly understand.

“Raising funds for Alzheimer’s Society is a vital way of supporting people living with this condition, and I hope that our contribution will help fund research into better treatments.

“I’m also a keen walker in whatever the weather, and would love to see us come together for a common cause. I would encourage you all to put a couple of hours’ time aside to join me for this lovely event – the more the merrier.”
