A HOMELESS hound who has seen thousands of his four-legged friends rehomed is looking for a home of his own.

Twix, a dark chocolate caramel coloured Staffordshire bull terrier cross, has spent exactly a year at Dogs Trust Darlington, seeing more than 1,000 of his furry friends head off to their forever homes.

Twix is around seven-years-old - which in dog years is as old as his chocolatey namesake which made an appearance on supermarket shelves in 1967.

Sue Embleton, manager at the Sadberge rehoming centre, said: “We don’t understand why he hasn’t caught anyone’s eye. He is a lovely boy and has a great zest for life, which is really contagious.

“As he’s been here a year we’ve had the opportunity to take him out and about. He particularly loves the seaside and also enjoys playing football and tug of war with his rope toys, as well as hide and seek, which he’s very good at.

“He walks really well on the lead too so we really are at a loss as to why he is still here.”

Twix is an active dog and his new owners will need to continue with his training.

He would suit a family with older teenagers rather than young children, and would prefer to be the only dog in the home.

To rehome Twix visit the centre at Hill House Farm, in Sadberge, near Darlington, from noon to 4pm from Friday to Tuesday, or noon to 7pm on Thursday.
