GREEN-FINGERED residents displayed the fruits of their labour at an annual village show.
The annual Heighington Leek Show was recently held at the village hall and the 47 classes attracted scores of entries from residents in the nearby area.
Entries were not limited to leeks, and also included categories for flowers, cakes and scones, as well as a special competition for children, which saw them create animals from fresh vegetables.
Following the show, a presentation evening was held where the winning entries were announced and produce was auctioned off, raising around £250 for the Great North Air Ambulance.
Brian Anderson, chairman of Heighington Parish Council, who attended the show, said: “It was a brilliant show - the entries were up last year.
“Although it was hosted by Heighington Leek Club, it also covered lots of other things, even cakes and scones."
